This set comes with control cards that name and illustrate the mothers, babies, and fathers of 5 farm animal families. The 15 labeled animal picture cards (3” x 3½”) can be matched to their control card, or they can be sorted in two ways, under five label cards (3” x 4½”): cattle, chickens, horses, pigs, sheep, or under three label cards (9” x 4½”): mother, baby, father. This set is in full color and laminated. We include a replicard (8½” x 11”) that reproduces the 15 animals. The replicard is photocopied to make worksheets for the child to color and label the 5 animal families.
This set introduces simple vocabulary to describe the physical features of 40 North American tree, garden, and houseplant leaves.
First - The child sorts 9 leaf characteristics cards (3" x 4") onto 3 control cards (10-3/8" x 5-1/4") that identify characteristics of Leaf Types, Leaf Veins, and Leaf Margins.
Second - After learning the 9 characteristics of leaves, it is time to describe the 3 characteristics of just one leaf. A leaf card is selected from the 40 leaf cards provided (3" x 4"). The child selects the 3 characteristics cards (type, venation, margin) that describe that leaf, and places them on the blank Leaf Identification card (10-3/8" x 5-1/4"). Real leaves can be used in this exercise as well. Background information is included for the teacher.
Familiar pets are pictured in this set of 98 two-color animal illustration cards (4” x 3”), which name and highlight the parts of 16 animals:
Group A - gerbil, hamster, guinea pig, rabbit
Group B - salamander, frog, parakeet, chick
Group C - hermit crab, snail, butterfly, ant
Group D - snake, lizard, turtle, goldfish.
Four Replicards (8½” x 11”) duplicate each animal. The Replicards are photocopied to make worksheets for the child to color and to write the animal‘s name and its 5 parts. The completed worksheets can be stapled together to make a 6-page ”Parts of an Animal” booklet. Purchase two sets to create 3-part matching activities.
