Classification of Matter Chart & Cards

After children become familiar with atoms and elements, they are ready to classify matter. Sixteen picture cards represent two main categories of matter, pure substances and mixtures, in four groups: chemical elements, compounds, homogeneous mixtures, and heterogeneous mixtures.

The child places picture cards on the plastic chart (18" x 32"), using the information on the back of the card as the control. The picture cards can also be sorted under six label cards (2-1/8” x 4-1/2”) that duplicate the text on the chart. Background information and lesson suggestions are included for the teacher. Cards (3-1/2” x 3-1/4”) are in full color and laminated.

PK6
Plant Kingdom Chart & Cards
PK6 [EM76]
This redesigned and updated Plant Kingdom Chart presents the current classification of the plant kingdom – the same scheme as found in secondary and college-level biology courses. This classification organizes the plant kingdom in a straight forward manner, with simple definitions and example for each group. First the plants are organized as either BRYOPHYTES (Non-vascular) or VASCULAR PLANTS. Then the vascular plants are divided into two groups: seedless plants and seed plants. The seed plants have two branches: Gymnosperms and Angiosperms. Nineteen picture cards (2Ό” x 3”) illustrate the currently recognized phyla of the plant kingdom. Children match the picture cards to the pictures on the 24” square plastic chart. Text on the back of the picture cards describes each plant. Advanced students can recreate the chart with the title cards provided, using the chart for control of error. Background and resource information is provided.
