Animal Kingdom Chart & Cards
AK15 [EM62/75]
See the diversity of animal life with this classification chart and cards that illustrate 42 animals within the 11 major phyla. Phyla are arranged in order of increasing complexity from sponges on the left to chordates on the right. We show both vertebrate and invertebrate chordates. Related phyla are grouped together based on the latest studies from current DNA research. The animals illustrated are from major classes within each phylum. This comprehensive chart shows the whole animal kingdom. It is an excellent foundation for studying the time line of life. Children match the 42 picture cards (2-7/8” x 2-3/8” color and laminated) to the pictures on the chart (24” x 36” plastic paper). Picture cards have text on the back to characterize each animal. More advanced students can focus on the uniqueness of particular phyla, using the 11 phylum description cards. These cards also have pronunciations for some of the more unusual words used to describe the phyla and animals. Background information is included for the teacher.
