Animals of Seven Continents

Five indigenous animals are illustrated and labeled for each of the six continents and the Polar Regions. Miniature continent maps appear on the animal cards and title cards to make the task of sorting self-correcting. The 35 picture cards are sorted under 8 label cards: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Polar Regions, Australasia (and Australia). Picture cards measure 2-7/8” x 3-1/4” are in full color and laminated.

Animals of Seven Continents Replicards

Designed for photocopying, these 7 cards produce worksheets for a continuing exercise with the Animals of Seven Continents set (AK3). Each Replicard (8½” x 11”) is divided into six sections, which includes a continent map, five indigenous animals, and space for each animal‘s name. After being colored and labeled, a worksheet can be cut apart, stapled, and made into a ”continent” booklet.

Flags of Six Continents Replicards

A favorite activity for children is making flags. This set of 12 sheets (8½” x 11”) offers four outlined flags per sheet, 8 or more flags per continent, which results in a total of 65 world flags. Photocopy the Replicards to make worksheets to be cut into quarter-pages. The child colors the flag outlines using resource books for each flag’s official colors. Flags are shown with a flagpole to indicate the correct orientation if the colored flag is glued to a stick.

Eight picture cards (6½” x 3-1/8”) portray the activities of a child every three hours through a 24-hour day. Each illustration has a clock face showing the corresponding time of day or night. Replicards (8½” x 11”) reproduce the picture cards, but without hands on the clocks. The replicards are photocopied to make worksheets for the child to color, to write the time of day, and to draw hands on the clock. The worksheets can be cut apart and stapled together to make a "Daytime/Nighttime" booklet. Cards are in full color and laminated.

Constellations

Place 6 transparent picture cards onto 6 labeled night-sky star cards to reveal the constellations Cassiopeia, Cygnus, Canus Major, Orion, Cepheus, and the Big & Little Dipper. Overlay cards also show the star-to-star pattern to make finding the constellations easier. Mythical stories about star patterns are included for the teacher. These 12 cards (4” x 4”) are of durable rigid vinyl and do not need to be laminated.

Colors of the Rainbow

Seeing a rainbow always seems magical. If it appears long enough, its seven bands of colors can be counted. This set makes counting and naming the colors easier. Create a rainbow by stacking 3 transparent, primary-color cards onto a primary-color base card (6” x 4¾”). The overlapping colors produce the 7 colors of the rainbow. Background information is included on how rainbows occur in nature, and how to produce a color spectrum in the classroom.
